Author: Oscar Wilde
Published: 1887 - 1889
Plenty of wit and hilarity but also, to my surprise, many stories in the fashion of a fable with a moral at the end. Also, quite a few make a stand for the poor and destitute, quite contrary to my impression of Wilde's work.

p.s.--
I'm really likin' this book thing. Hope you keep it up!
Thanks, LBB.
I had a paper list going for a while (one of those little books the boxstores keep near the registers, tempting you to spend just a few more dollars) but failed to remember to make the entries after a while.
Perhaps better success here. I was quite fascinated with Library Thing but knew I had better keep my distance lest it suck away all my free time.
I counted 20 books on my bedside table that require attention. Perhaps this will also help make a dent in that pile.
I know about the book piles. Believe me.
I'll keep an eye on your book posts with interest.
